Pine River Introduces LEAP Bursary Program Thanks to the Lang Family Foundation

People sit around a long desk surrounded by laptops and notebooks.

Pine River is excited to announce a new bursary opportunity designed to support the academic pursuits of Pine River students, staff, and interns.

The Lang Educational Accessibility Program (LEAP) is generously made possible by the Lang Family Foundation. This new initiative offers vital financial assistance towards tuition and living expenses, empowering members of our community to pursue their educational aspirations.

“The students at Pine River work tremendously hard to tackle their life challenges,” said the Lang family. “The establishment of the LEAP program allows for continued support on their journey, while also enabling staff the opportunity to upgrade their professional skills and to grow into senior roles at Pine River. We are pleased to contribute to Pine River’s staff and students’ success.”

The Lang Family has been an invaluable ally of Pine River. From their contributions to our second on-campus dorm Moffat House, to the more recent establishment of our transition resource, Lang House in Orillia, their support continues to positively impact the lives of the students and families we serve.

Here’s a breakdown of the LEAP program’s three key components:

  • Student Bursary Program:  This program offers a needs-based bursary of up to $33,000 per year, for a maximum of four years, supporting one PRI student annually. Applications for the 2024-25 academic year are open now.
  • Staff Bursary Program:  Designed for PRI staff members, this program provides funding of up to $30,000 per year for graduate-level studies in disciplines essential for psychotherapy recognition. Recipients commit to a two-year service at PRI post-graduation.
  • Therapist Internship Program:  Tailored for individuals seeking additional training and experience in therapy roles at PRI, this program offers a compensated internship at $60,000 for one year. Priority will be given to those with prior PRI affiliations.

At Pine River, we recognize the significance of providing financial support to ensure every student has the opportunity to excel academically. We also value the ability to support members of our incredible staff team in their pursuit of knowledge and credentials, ultimately enhancing the quality of care we provide to the youth and families we serve.

A heartfelt thank you to the Lang Family Foundation for its invaluable contribution to our community.
