PRI Staff COVID Update – Oct 25, 2022

Dear PRI Staff,

Four students have tested positive for COVID over the past two days: three in the main building and one in Moffat House.  In all cases, the students have exhibited mild symptoms.

These are the actions currently in place:

  • All went on a sick day, in their rooms
  • They will be reassessed daily
  • If their symptoms have been improving for 24 hours (48 if they exhibit G.I. symptoms), they will re-join the community, and wear a mask for 10 days from symptom onset.
  • If their symptoms are not improving, they will remain in their rooms and continue to be reassessed.

Main/Lower Dorm

These are the actions currently in place:

  • All students on the lower dorm are masking when outside of their bedrooms, given their exposure and close contact with unwell students.
  • Support staff are also masking.
  • For the moment, we will continue with daily COVID surveillance testing for students.

Moffat House

These are the actions currently in place:

  • Roommates of the student who has tested positive in Moffat House are all masking given their close contact.
  • The COVID-positive student was moved to a separate room.
  • Support staff are also masking.
  • For the moment, we will continue with daily COVID surveillance testing for students.

MEAL TIME

For students who have tested positive for COVID, and their symptoms have resolved, and they have rejoined the community, (masking for 10 days since onset) – it is best at meal time that they sit two metres from others.

STAFF PROTOCOL REMINDER

Surveillance Testing

Please be reminded that our surveillance testing protocol remains in place and is particularly important while we are experiencing an outbreak:

  • Full-time staff ae asked to rapid test twice weekly – at the beginning and midway through your weekly shift
  • Part-time staff are asked to rapid test prior to the commencement of their shift
  • Should you have a positive test but remain asymptomatic you can continue working but must wear a mask for 10 days from the time of your positive test. If symptoms develop, you will go home until symptoms have been resolving for 24 hours.

Close Contact

If you have been in close contact with a COVID-positive individual, you may be at work however asked to wear a mask for 10 days.  If you become symptomatic, you are asked to go home and isolate until symptoms are resolving for 24 hours (48 hours if you experienced G.I. symptoms).

Please be reminded that all are welcome to choose to mask at anytime – some members of our community may have a heightened sense of protection for vulnerable family members, etc.  We have a good supply of both masks and rapid tests so please make use of them.

As always, thank you for all that you do to keep our community thriving.
