We did it! Pine River has won a new Land Rover Defender and $30,000 US in a North America-wide competition!
As a contender in the Defender Service Awards, Pine River rose to the top to win the ‘Outdoor Accessibility & Education Award’, bringing home a brand new Land Rover Defender 130 SUV, along with $25,000 from Outside and $5,000 from Chase. Land Rover received video submissions from more than 500 applicants and you can see ours here.
From that initial pool of applicants, Pine River was shortlisted to one of five nominees in our category. From there it went to public voting and we are so grateful for the community support we received that landed us as one of two finalists for the Outdoor Accessibility & Outdoor Education Award.
Pine River was announced the winner at the ceremony, hosted by Land Rover in California, with staff and PRI Caregiver Advisory Council (CAC) volunteers waiting for the news at a Toronto watch party. PRI’s Executive Director of Development, Jill Palmer was there to accept the award.
Sturdy, safe vehicles are essential to get our students, staff and equipment into the wilderness, around campus and to various activities. The Defender and the prize money will go a huge distance in supporting Pine River’s work to help youth and families heal.
Many thanks to the CAC and all our supporters who helped vote to get Pine River to the top – your support and enthusiasm made a huge difference!
