Meeting the Challenges of “Blended Families” Masterclass with Dr. Patricia Papernow

November 18, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Stepfamilies have the potential to be happy and thriving, just like any other type of family. Nevertheless, creating a strong stepfamily requires a different approach than forming a first-time family. Fortunately, evidence-based tools and strategies have been developed over the last four decades through extensive research and clinical experience. With these resources, you can effectively handle discipline, assist children in transitioning smoothly, establish a strong couple relationship, form a stepparent role, create a new family culture, and manage relationships with ex-spouses. By adopting research-based practical tips and effective strategies, you can collectively build a successful and fulfilling stepfamily.

Dr. Patricia Papernow is an internationally recognized expert on stepfamilies and post-divorce parenting. She has been working with and teaching about “blended families” for over four decades, continuously integrating the latest research into her work. She has authored the leading books in the field: Surviving and Thriving in Stepfamily Relationships: What Works and What Doesn’t, and, with Karen Bonnell, The Stepfamily Handbook: From Dating to Getting Serious to Forming a “Blended Family.” She’s also written dozens of articles and book chapters. Patricia is the recipient of awards for Distinguished Contribution to Family Psychology from the American Psychological Association and from the American Family Therapy Academy.
