Kristen Crandall
Team 4 Therapist
JOINED PINE RIVER: 2026
Growing up in Ontario, Kirsten developed a strong appreciation for community, resilience and meaningful relationships — values that continue to guide her work. She brings a calm, compassionate and grounded presence to her practice, with a focus on building genuine, trusting connections where youth and families feel seen, heard and supported.
Kirsten is a registered social worker and psychotherapist with a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University, as well as a master’s degree in epidemiology and a background in biomedical sciences. Her interdisciplinary training supports an approach that integrates research-informed knowledge with a holistic, biopsychosocial perspective, while remaining deeply relational and client-centred in her work with addictive behaviours and other mental health challenges.
She was drawn to Pine River Institute for its commitment to collaborative, nature-based and client-centred care, as well as its reflective, supportive team culture. Kirsten values working in environments that prioritize mentorship, growth and meaningful connection, and is grateful to be part of a space where both clients and clinicians are encouraged to learn, connect, persevere and thrive together.
Outside of her professional role, Kirsten finds balance in backcountry camping, hiking, travelling, gardening and reading. Time spent in nature, and with friends, family and her two dogs, helps her stay grounded and present — values she brings into her work each day.
