PRI@CFI’s Working with Families training curriculum is delivered in 7 modules over 3 days for 6 hours per day.
A more in-depth training is available through an additional 3 modules in a time frame that works for your organization.
After successfully completing this course, participants will be able to:
Apply the three fundamental components of Pine River’s framework
- developmental perspective (vs medical model)
- family connections focus and family systems model
- congruent sense of self
Equip families with the following skills and practices to support their children
- Attunement and limit-setting
- Emotional regulation
- Boundaries and a differentiated sense of self
- The four coping stances – identifying client and family coping styles and helping them shift towards more congruent communication
- The Satir Iceberg – helping families see and understand what is motivating their child’s behaviour
- Identify their parenting styles, their triggers, and their ability to grow
- Deepen self-awareness and develop your understanding of how to develop your congruent use of self

- A values-based approach – knowing and speaking your truth with conviction
- The benefits of process groups and how to run them
- “Real World” application of the model in your treatment setting
- A strengths-based approach to working with families
